FAQ — Czech 10-day vignette

Do motorcycles need a Czech vignette?

No. Motorcycles, trikes, and trailers are exempt from the Czech vignette requirement. If you're riding a motorcycle through Czechia, you do not need to buy anything.

What is the fine for driving without a Czech vignette?

Fines can reach up to ~CZK 20,000 (≈€820). Misuse of exemptions (e.g., driving an unregistered electric vehicle on a claimed exemption) can trigger higher penalties up to €6,900.

Is the Czech vignette fully digital?

Yes, since 2021. No physical sticker — the vignette is linked to your license plate and country of registration. Enforcement is camera-based across the motorway network.

How fast does the vignette activate?

If you pay by card, the vignette is valid immediately upon payment confirmation. You can also choose a future start date (up to 3 months in advance).

Do electric vehicles pay less?

Yes. Fully electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles are exempt but must register for an exemption with the Czech authority. Natural gas and plug-in hybrids get reduced rates.

Does the Czech vignette cover the city bypass around Prague?

Most of the D0 (Prague Ring) requires a vignette. A few short sections near the city are toll-free. Use official route signs — if a "motorway" or "expressway" symbol is shown, the vignette is required.
