Austria vignette 2026: prices, periods and how it works
Official ASFINAG e-vignette rates for 2026 (car and motorcycle), the 18-day rule, annual validity dates, and what the digital vignette covers.
Who needs an Austrian vignette
Every vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes driving on Austrian motorways and expressways is subject to toll. That includes cars, motorcycles, camper vans under 3.5 t, and vehicles towing a trailer (the trailer itself is free; the tow vehicle still needs one).
Heavier vehicles use a different system — the GO-Box with distance-based tolls.
Prețuri 2026 (ASFINAG)
Tarife oficiale ASFINAG (autoturism până la 3,5 t):
- 1 zi (doar digital): 9,60 EUR
- 10 zile: 12,80 EUR
- 2 luni: 32,00 EUR
- 1 an: 106,80 EUR
Pe AllVignette (preț cu taxă de serviciu, activare imediată pentru perioade scurte):
- 1 zi: 24,90 EUR
- 10 zile: 32,90 EUR
- 2 luni: 50,90 EUR
- 1 an: 126,90 EUR
Motocicletă — tarife oficiale ASFINAG:
- 1 zi: 3,80 EUR
- 10 zile: 5,10 EUR
- 2 luni: 12,80 EUR
- 1 an: 42,70 EUR
Pe AllVignette (motocicletă, cu taxă de serviciu):
- 1 zi: 18,90 EUR
- 10 zile: 19,90 EUR
- 2 luni: 30,90 EUR
- 1 an: 66,90 EUR
Valabilitate vigneta anuală 2026: 1 decembrie 2025 – 31 ianuarie 2027. Tarifele au crescut cu 2,9% în decembrie 2025 (IPCH); următoarea revizuire este de obicei în decembrie.

Digital or sticker?
In 2026 you can still buy a physical toll sticker or a digital vignette. The 2026 adhesive sticker is the last one ASFINAG will sell — from 1 February 2027 only the digital vignette remains ([ASFINAG](https://www.asfinag.at/en/toll/vignette/)).
The digital vignette is linked to your license plate. No windscreen placement, and it works with transferable plates.
The 18-day rule
Here is the catch many tourists miss. If you buy the digital 2-month or annual vignette directly from ASFINAG's official shop as a private person, it only becomes valid 18 days after purchase. This is the EU consumer withdrawal period.
The 1-day and 10-day digital vignettes are exempt — they work immediately.
How to get around the 18-day wait
Authorised resellers that operate as businesses are not bound by the 18-day rule and can issue immediate vignettes. You pay a small service fee on top of the official price.
Section tolls
Some tunnels and mountain passes charge extra regardless of your vignette. Plan for this if your route crosses the Brenner, Tauern, Arlberg, Karawanken or similar sections.
