FAQ — Slovenia 7-day
Is there a 1-day Slovenian vignette?
No. The shortest option is 7 days (€16.00 for category 2A cars). Slovenia does not offer a daily vignette — even for transit trips, you must buy the weekly one.
Does the Slovenian vignette cover the Karawanken Tunnel?
No. The Karawanken Tunnel at the Austria-Slovenia border has a separate toll paid at the booth. The regular vignette covers every other motorway and expressway in Slovenia.
What are the vehicle categories in Slovenia?
Three: Category 1 (motorcycles and trikes), 2A (cars up to 3.5 t with height under 1.3 m above front axle), and 2B (larger vehicles / buses). Most passenger cars fall under 2A.
Is the Slovenian vignette fully digital?
Yes, since December 2021. No sticker — the e-vinjeta is linked to your license plate. You can verify validity at evinjeta.dars.si before travel.
What's the fine for driving without a Slovenian vignette?
Fines start at €300 and can reach €800. Enforcement is camera-based on motorways and expressways. Checks are also done roadside by Slovenian police.
Do I need a vignette for Slovenian coastal expressways?
From 1 January 2026, the H5 and H6 coastal expressways are exempt from the vignette requirement. All other motorways (A1, A2, A4, A5) still require one.
