Who needs a Slovenian e-vinjeta?
Cars, vans, and motorhomes up to 3.5 t using Slovenian motorways need a valid digital e-vinjeta linked to the license plate — including transit.
Motorcycles have separate rules; most light vehicles use category 2A or 2B based on height above the front axle. Enforcement is camera-based nationwide.
Where is the e-vinjeta required?
On the DARS tolled motorway network — motorways (avtocesta) and some express sections where vignette signs apply.
Ordinary regional roads without toll signs are free. Entering a vignette road without coverage leads to fines of roughly €300–800.
Category 2A vs 2B (height rule)
2A covers standard cars and lower vehicles; 2B applies when height above the front axle exceeds the limit (taller vans, many motorhomes).
Choosing the wrong category is a common fine trigger — measure or check manufacturer data before checkout.
Karawanken tunnel — separate toll
The Karawanken tunnel (Austria–Slovenia) is not covered by the standard e-vinjeta — it has its own time-based or distance toll.
Plan both products if your route uses the tunnel; the vignette alone does not pay Karawanken passage.
Digital e-vinjeta since 2021
No windshield sticker — your plate is registered in the DARS system for 7 days, 1 month, or annual periods (no 1-day option).
Purchase through AllVignette registers the official product; keep email confirmation until you verify on the operator portal.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a 1-day Slovenian vignette?
No. The shortest option is 7 days (€16.00 for category 2A cars). Slovenia does not offer a daily vignette — even for transit trips, you must buy the weekly one.
Does the Slovenian vignette cover the Karawanken Tunnel?
No. The Karawanken Tunnel at the Austria-Slovenia border has a separate toll paid at the booth. The regular vignette covers every other motorway and expressway in Slovenia.
What are the vehicle categories in Slovenia?
Three: Category 1 (motorcycles and trikes), 2A (cars up to 3.5 t with height under 1.3 m above front axle), and 2B (larger vehicles / buses). Most passenger cars fall under 2A.
Is the Slovenian vignette fully digital?
Yes, since December 2021. No sticker — the e-vinjeta is linked to your license plate. You can verify validity at evinjeta.dars.si before travel.
What's the fine for driving without a Slovenian vignette?
Fines start at €300 and can reach €800. Enforcement is camera-based on motorways and expressways. Checks are also done roadside by Slovenian police.
Do I need a vignette for Slovenian coastal expressways?
From 1 January 2026, the H5 and H6 coastal expressways are exempt from the vignette requirement. All other motorways (A1, A2, A4, A5) still require one.
